Set up a printer on Windows

Add a printer in Windows 10 or 11, install the driver, and print a test page.

  1. Power the printer on and connect it to Wi‑Fi or USB. Wait until the ready light is steady.
  2. On the PC: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners → Add device.
  3. Select your printer when it appears. If it does not, choose Add manually and search by name or IP.
  4. Allow Windows to install the driver, or download the full package from the manufacturer if the basic driver is missing features (scan, fax, wireless).
  5. Open the queue → Printer → Printing preferences and set paper size to Letter (or A4).
  6. Print a test page from Printer properties. If jobs sit in the queue, see the print spooler article.

Technician notes

  • Use a USB cable for the first install if Wi‑Fi discovery fails, then switch to wireless.
  • Remove old copies of the same printer in Settings to avoid printing to a ghost device.
