Connect a printer to Wi‑Fi
Join the printer to your wireless network and add it on every device.
- On the printer screen open Wireless, Network, or Wi‑Fi Setup. For models with a WPS button, you can use WPS if your router supports it.
- Select your network name (SSID). Avoid guest networks — they often block printer discovery.
- Enter the Wi‑Fi password carefully. Passwords are case-sensitive; a wrong password loops forever.
- Wait for a wireless icon or “connected” status. Print a network config page if you need the IP address.
- On the computer or phone, add the printer from system settings. Both devices must be on the same SSID (not a 2.4 vs 5 GHz split if the printer is 2.4 GHz only).
- Print a test page. If it fails, power-cycle the printer and router, then retry.
Technician notes
- Many home inkjets are 2.4 GHz only. A 5 GHz-only SSID will never appear.
- Mesh systems: connect during setup near the node the printer will live next to.
