Set up a printer on Mac
Add AirPrint or a driver-based printer in System Settings on macOS.
- Put the Mac and printer on the same Wi‑Fi network (or connect USB).
- Open System Settings → Printers & Scanners → Add Printer, Scanner or Fax.
- Select the printer. Prefer AirPrint when listed — it needs no extra installer for basic print.
- If AirPrint is missing, install the maker’s macOS driver, then add the printer again.
- Set the default paper size and enable two-sided only if your model has a duplexer.
- Print a test page from any app (File → Print). If the printer is grayed out, check network and the offline article.
Technician notes
- VPN or guest Wi‑Fi often hides printers. Use the same LAN as the device.
- Reset the printing system only as a last step — it removes all printers from the Mac.
