First-time printer setup

Unbox, load paper and ink, then connect USB or Wi‑Fi the right way.

  1. Place the printer on a stable, ventilated surface. Leave space behind for cables and paper exit.
  2. Remove all tape, packing cardboard and orange shipping locks — check under the lid and in the paper tray.
  3. Install ink or toner until it clicks. Close the cover and wait for the ready light (or a “preparing” message) to finish.
  4. Fan a small stack of plain paper and load it under the guides. Do not overfill the tray.
  5. Power on and choose your language / region if the panel asks. Skip extra software offers if you only need drivers.
  6. Connect with Wi‑Fi (printer menu → network) or a USB cable. Then add the printer in Windows or macOS Settings.
  7. Print a test page. If it is blank or streaky, run a nozzle or alignment routine from the printer menu.

Technician notes

  • Keep the box until a test page succeeds — packing locks are easy to miss.
  • Use the Knowledge Base Wi‑Fi or USB articles if the computer never sees the printer.
